Kiana Palacios’s exit has opened the door for Daniela Espinosa to chase América Femenil’s all-time scoring record.
According to Americayya.net, her departure was confirmed in recent days after she signed for Utah Royal in the NWLS. She also won a Liga MX Femenil title with the club.
With her gone, the mark is within Espinosa’s reach as she nears a return from injury. She is five goals from drawing level, six from taking the lead, and 14 from becoming the first to reach 100 for América.
The leading scorers in América Femenil history are: Kiana Palacios, 91, Daniela Espinosa, 86, Casandra Cuevas, 53, Katty Martínez, 53, Scarlett Camberos, 52, Lucero Cuevas, 49, Sarah Luebbert, 46, Montse Saldivar, 37, Irene Guerrero, 36, and Alison González, 27.
Camberos is two shy of third place. Further back, Sarah Luebbert, Montse Saldivar and Irene Guerrero are not far off the top three, and perhaps in a couple of years they could feature in the top five.
