Kiat Lim visit as Valencia chiefs urge move for Guido | OneFootball

Kiat Lim visited Paterna on Tuesday morning, greeting staff and players and holding planning talks with Ron Gourlay and Carlos Corberán. The hierarchy used the meeting to press the case to sign Guido, according to AS.

The president arrived in the city on Monday, dining with executives before touring the Nou Mestalla works. It is his first trip to Valencia in 2026, a year on from his appointment on 3 March 2025, and his third overall, the last in December for the General Shareholders’ Meeting.

Valencia have won six of their last 10 league games, pulling clear of the drop and moving to within 3 points of Europe. The run reinforces the January moves, including Sadiq, Unai and Guido, and underlines the need for investment.

Gourlay’s roadmap is to return to Europe when the club moves home in summer 2027. There are two transfer windows before then, starting this summer.

Guido’s position and profile are key to Corberán’s plans, and he and Gourlay want continuity for those who have proved their worth. Corberán is keen to avoid a repeat of last summer, when Enzo Barrenechea departed after his loan.

Guido differs from Barrenechea because he is set to become a free agent, while the latter had a 15 million option and is seven years younger. He will not be short of offers after his recent displays at Mestalla, so Valencia want to move now while he feels the club.

Training was set for 10:45, the players returning after a day off following the win over Sevilla. Around 11:30, Kiat Lim arrived with Joey Lim, his assistant and former club director, along with club staff. Gourlay had reached the facility a couple of hours earlier.
