Sky Germany reports that, if Jürgen Klopp takes the Germany head coach role, the DFB would grant him sweeping authority to drive a broad overhaul beyond the senior side. The plan centres on reshaping the national set-up and youth pathway.
Rather than focusing only on the first team, Klopp would be asked to lead a reset of the country’s footballing philosophy to address recent shortcomings.
He would assemble his own backroom staff. Long-time assistant Peter Krawietz is expected to join, with Pepijn Lijnders and former RB Leipzig coach Zsolt Löw under consideration.
The future remit of sporting director Rudi Völler remains unclear. A partnership with Klopp is viewed as workable through UEFA EURO 2028, offering stability and experience during a transition.
Klopp’s brief would extend beyond tournament preparation to structural fixes, including redefining the national team’s style, modernising tactical principles and improving player development across the youth ranks.
He is seen as capable of lifting results and helping establish a clear identity across all levels. No appointment has been announced, though he is envisaged as the central figure in a long-term rebuild.
