FC Bayern are continuing their intensive search of the international transfer market – and could strike again in the English Premier League. According to the latest reports, the Munich club are specifically looking at Manchester City defender John Stones
The England international’s name has been circulating around Säbener Straße for months and now there are growing indications that Bayern could intensify their efforts
As the Daily Mail reports, the German record champions are considering a transfer for the 31-year-old next summer. Particularly attractive: Stones would currently be available on a free transfer
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano also confirms Bayern’s interest, stating that the defensive player’s advisors have actively offered the Englishman to FC Bayern
Munich are apparently looking closely at whether a transfer would make economic and sporting sense
Interestingly, according to the Daily Mail, Bayern are said to have a good chance of winning Stones. Although other top European clubs – including Juventus Turin – are also monitoring the situation, Munich is apparently considered a very attractive destination

One decisive factor could be Vincent Kompany. The Bayern coach himself played with Stones at Manchester City for several years and is therefore very familiar with his qualities. This connection in particular could play an important role in a potential transfer
In sporting terms, Stones would fit exactly into the profile that Bayern are currently looking for. The Englishman can be deployed both in central defense and as a right-back, and it is precisely this variability that Vincent Kompany particularly appreciates
The right side of defense in particular is still seen internally as one of the biggest construction sites in the Bayern squad
In addition, Stone has a wealth of experience: more than 250 Premier League games and over 60 appearances in the Champions League speak for themselves
Stones could become particularly interesting in the context of possible departures. Internally, Bayern are still looking at various future scenarios involving Minjae Kim and Hiroki Ito. Should one of the two defenders leave the club, Stones could quickly become a concrete option
The fact that the Englishman would be available on a free transfer makes the deal even more attractive, especially in view of the current cost-cutting measures and the discussions surrounding the salary structure, Bayern bosses are paying more attention to economically sensible solutions for potential transfers
With Stones, they would be signing an internationally experienced defensive player without having to invest a large transfer fee
Although it remains to be seen whether the Munich club will actually go for it in the end, one thing is clear: Stones is definitely one of the most exciting defensive options on Bayern’s list.
