Kostoulas’ late overhead kick denies Bournemouth at the Amex | OneFootball

Brighton & Hove Albion snatched a dramatic late equaliser against Bournemouth at the Amex Stadium, thanks to a sensational overhead kick from 18-year-old Charalampos Kostoulas.

The Greek teenager controlled the ball on his chest before looping a perfect scissor kick past Djordje Petrovic to claim a share of the points.

The Cherries had been in control for large spells, taking a first-half lead through a VAR-awarded penalty. Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen brought down Amine Adli in the box, and Marcus Tavernier stepped up to convert coolly from the spot.

Andoni  Iraola's side looked dangerous throughout the first 45 minutes, with Evanilson hitting the post and missing a header, while Brighton struggled to keep up with Bournemouth’s pace and intensity.

The hosts came out swinging after the break, dominating possession and creating chance after chance.

Kaoru Mitoma curled one just wide, Diego Gomez saw shots blocked, and substitute Yankuba Minteh tested Petrovic with a stinging effort. But it was Kostoulas who finally found a way through, hooking in a brilliant overhead finish in the dying minutes, sending the home fans wild.

The point leaves Brighton in 12th, while Bournemouth remain 15th, just three points behind.
