Niko Kovač's possible shift to a 4-2-3-1 with wingers at Borussia Dortmund could create an opening for Jason Sancho to return in summer, FußballTransfers.com reports.
A fundamental discussion on BVB’s future direction is said to be planned. Among the options, a return to a 4-2-3-1 using wingers is being considered, which would mean one fewer defender and one extra attacker.
Sancho was linked with Dortmund before ultimately joining Aston Villa last summer. Financial constraints prevented BVB from signing the 25-year-old, and he could now be available on a free transfer in summer.
With Manchester United set to offload the winger, he would have to make peace with not earning the same €12million salary at BVB.
The former Dortmund winger remains popular with supporters. This season he has one Europa League goal and one Premier League assist in 23 games for Villa.
