Monaco’s coach says Senegal international Krépin Diatta is in a stable condition after illness kept him out of Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations final. He was discharged from hospital on Sunday night.

Speaking on Monday, the Belgian coach said they had received reassuring updates, that Diatta had been under observation the previous night and that his condition was stable. He added that the exact nature of the illness remained unclear and that he hoped to have the player back soon, according to L'Équipe.

He is unsure whether he can call on Diatta or team-mate Lamine Camara for this weekend’s trip to Le Havre, noting there will likely be a celebration protocol in their country.

Camara is described as the other Africa Cup of Nations winner in his squad.

The coach said they would see about the weekend match.
