Rasmus Kristensen’s season could be over after the Frankfurt full-back suffered an injury in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Mönchengladbach, Sport BILD reports.

He was withdrawn at half-time and replaced by Nnamdi Collins. The right-back will be sidelined for the foreseeable.

After the match, new head coach Albert Riera said he hoped it was only a blow.

Kristensen was examined by a specialist on Monday afternoon, and it was reported the 28-year-old suffered a ligament injury.

In the worst case, several officials are said to expect a lay-off of several months. If confirmed, it would be a big blow for the Hessen club, as he has played 25 games in all competitions this season and scored three goals.
