Kylian Mbappé and Bradley Barcola sparked a France revival in the World Cup third-place play-off against England, scoring three second-half goals on Saturday night in Miami.
As reported by L'Équipe, the captain ignited the fightback right after a calamitous first half for Les Bleus.
Found by Michael Olise with a clever pass between the lines, the Madrid forward was picked out in the box and, without taking a touch, guided a left-footed strike across Jordan Pickford in the 48th minute. The keeper got down but could not stop it.
Six minutes later Barcola continued the surge, running on to Mbappé’s ball, cutting inside and beating Pickford at the near post in the 54th minute. The PSG winger took two touches before firing.
France kept coming and Mbappé added another after a slick exchange with Olise. The captain finished with power to haul his side back to within one of England.
