Cadena SER reports that Kylian Mbappé could be sidelined until mid-March with a left knee issue, with a return targeted for the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Manchester City on 17 March, 21:00.
The France captain will not rush his comeback with Real Madrid. He has already missed the Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica.
He is in recovery and would miss La Liga fixtures against Getafe on Monday and Celta Vigo on 6 March, and could also sit out Elche on 14 March. He would also be absent for the first leg against City on 11 March.
An MRI in late December revealed a lateral collateral ligament lesion in his left knee. The problem has troubled him for several weeks.
With the 2026 World Cup scheduled from 11 June to 19 July, he is unwilling to take risks.
