Kylian Mbappé starts for France against Morocco in Thursday’s World Cup quarter-final at 22:00, set to make his 20th appearance and draw level with Hugo Lloris’s national record.
According to L'Équipe, Lloris had been the sole French record-holder for World Cup appearances, and Mbappé could move clear if France reach the semi-finals and he features.

The Real Madrid forward, 27, will move ahead of Antoine Griezmann, who has 19 World Cup outings and was in Boston on Thursday to support his former team-mates.
Raphaël Varane and Olivier Giroud are on 18 matches apiece at the tournament, two behind Mbappé.
If he plays again beyond the quarter-final, Mbappé would hold the record outright.
