Kylian Mbappé named Alan investor and prevention ambassador | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé, the Real Madrid forward and France captain, has become an investor and ambassador for prevention-led insurer Alan. The company wants to scale to 10 million members with his involvement.

Founded in 2016, the year he reached adulthood, Alan now has more than 1 million members. The partnership was unveiled on 23 March at the musée du quai Branly in Paris, in a Silicon Valley-style presentation.

Cofounder and chief executive Jean-Charles Samuelian-Werve said the health system rewards treatment late and is under mounting pressure. He argued insurers should focus on prevention as much as reimbursement.

Mbappé has invested via his fund Coalition Capital, though the amount was not disclosed, with the chief executive calling it significant. It forms part of a €100m round valuing Alan at €5bn, which also includes Antoine Griezmann.

Mbappé considers technology essential in football and useful in health, since data can reveal things athletes would not otherwise know. He wants people to understand and monitor what is happening in their bodies.

Marking its 10th anniversary, Alan introduced Mo, an AI health companion, a workplace health service, advanced biological analyses and an online optics offer with no out-of-pocket costs. The Alan Play feature lets users be accompanied by Mbappé and join a daily steps league, with those who outstep him able to enter a draw to meet him.

Mental health prevention is another priority for the new investor, and is already part of Alan’s programme. His aim is to help and share, accepting they cannot treat everyone but can try to do the best possible.
