Kylian Mbappé out of Real Madrid squad for Clásico against Barcelona | OneFootball

According to Le Progres, Kylian Mbappé was not named in Alvaro Arbeloa’s Real Madrid squad list published on Sunday for the La Liga Clásico against Barcelona at 21:00, a match that could secure the title for the leaders.

The France captain had only just returned to training this week after a hamstring injury sustained against Betis in late April, and completed only part of Saturday’s group session.

Barcelona lead La Liga by 11 points, and Mbappé’s absence could reignite debate in Spain over his commitment and perceived individualism.

He drew strong criticism in recent days for a trip to Sardinia last weekend while his team-mates had a league game against Espanyol. Some supporters on social media even called for him to leave.

Others also took issue with him leaving the training ground smiling on Thursday after a heated altercation between Tchouaméni and Valverde. Arbeloa later defended him, arguing the smile was being taken out of context and stressing the sacrifices he made to join Real Madrid, his dream club.
