Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé is expected to be sanctioned with just a one-match ban for his recent red card.
That’s according to COPE, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation.
Frontman Mbappé of course took his place front and centre in the headlines across all of Spain on Sunday evening.
Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, however, this came for altogether less than positive reasons.
Mbappé was, as expected, afforded a starting berth yesterday, as Real Madrid made the trip to Mendizorroza for a La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés.
En route to an eventual 1-0 Blancos triumph, however, the Frenchman lasted less than 40 minutes, before being given his marching orders.
This came owing to a frankly awful challenge on Alavés star Antonio Blanco.
Based on the severity of the tackle, and the potential damage which could have been done, reports quickly pointed towards Mbappé as facing up to a potentiallylengthy incoming ban.
As alluded to above, though, according to COPE at least, this will in fact not be the case:
‘Mbappé faces a 1-match suspension. Since the ball is in dispute (in the tackle), only the match against Athletic Club would be lost.’
