Kylian Mbappé’s start at Real Madrid has been a bit uneven. While the former Paris Saint-Germain standout has scored eight goals and recorded two assists in 16 appearances, he’s still working on finding consistency.
The 25-year-old’s El Clásico debut was a tough one, as Real Madrid were beaten 4-0 by Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu on October 26. Just a few days later, they suffered another setback with a 3-1 defeat to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
However, Real Madrid bounced back with a commanding 4-0 victory over CA Osasuna last weekend. Vinicius Junior stole the show with a hat trick, while Jude Bellingham added another. Mbappé, though, struggled to make a noticeable impact on the game.
As a result, France manager Didier Deschamps has decided to leave the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner out of the squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches during the November international window.

On Friday’s ESPN FC, the panel discussed the hurdle that the Frenchman is facing with the Spanish side. While there are many opinions on the issue, Ale Moreno believes that Mbappé is struggling to accept that he’s now Vinicius Junior’s sidekick.
“He’s doubting himself probably for the first time ever in his career. It’s like, ‘Can I do this?’ It was the big money move. ‘I went to my dream club. Here I am, and I’m unable to be the guy who I think I can be.’
“He’s struggling with that. That’s the reason as to why he’s not [with the French national team], because he’s struggling to come to terms with the reality that Vinnie is the guy at Real Madrid and that he’s not.”
