Kyogo makes MLS move despite hitman wanting Celtic return | OneFootball

Kyogo Furuhashi has completed a move to MLS side LA Galaxy. The striker had reportedly been keen to return to Celtic, perhaps in a realisation that the grass was not greener for the player, but now he has made the move to Los Angeles for an undisclosed fee.

The 31-year-old had been expected to leave Birmingham City this summer with the move to St Andrews failing to pan out as anyone had hoped. A move to Celtic in January had been touted with Celtic keen to make a loan move for the player to bolster their attacking options but the Japanese forward insisted that he wanted to stay and fight for his place under Chris Davies.

Despite wanting to get back to Celtic, Kyogo has switched to LA. Ironically, he wanted to leave Celtic to get a place in the Japan squad for the World Cup, he will now ply his trade in the States.

Kyogo made 165 appearances for Celtic, scoring 85 goals and assisting on 19 occasions, after signing from Vissel Kobe. The signing was a masterstroke from Ange Postecoglou and he was later joined by Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate. The duo are expected to leave this summer, effectively bringing to an end the J-League contingent that arrived and dominated Scottish football.
