LaLiga has revealed vintage shirts for Primera and Segunda clubs during a Madrid Fashion Week runway in the city centre, ahead of its Vintage Matchday on 10-12 April. According to AS, the celebration will fall on matchday 31 in the top flight and 35 in the second tier.
Teams have reissued some of their most iconic designs. Atlético have opted for a shirt inspired by their 1903 origins and the early blue and white identity. Elche have chosen a jersey that recalls the 1991-92 strip, worn by Murúa and Puche.
Referees have joined in with a kit echoing the look used at the 1994 World Cup in the United States and seen in the 1995 Copa del Rey final. That final was halted in the 79th minute due to a hailstorm at the Bernabéu.
Barcelona will not play in a vintage kit on the weekend of 12 April due to technical issues, but they presented a special design for the runway that reflects the 1899 shirt.
Real Madrid are the only club not to have joined the initiative, with the league hoping to persuade them for a future edition. Rayo and Getafe will not wear retro kits this season because of technical problems, though both will support the project in other ways.
