With Ansu Fati’s move to AS Monaco getting officially completed today, his No. 10 shirt at FC Barcelona is now free.
As has already been reported, Lamine Yamal is expected to inherit the #10 shirt and carry forward its rich legacy.
In fact, it was believed that Barça would confirm it officially today, ahead of the launch of the new home kit for the 2025/26 season on Wednesday (2 July).
However, according to Jijantes, Lamine Yamal has now requested Barcelona to delay the announcement until his birthday on 13 July.

As mentioned above, the initial plan was to announce Yamal as the team’s new No. 10 today as soon as Ansu’s exit was confirmed.
However, the youngster has asked the club to hold off on the announcement until his 18th birthday on 13 July, which is when he will also sign his new contract which was agreed a few weeks back.
That day also happens to be when Barcelona will start pre-season, meaning the entire squad will be present for when Lamine will be confirmed as the new #10.
Taking over a shirt held by club greats like Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and Romario, among others will be a huge responsibility for the 17-year-old – one he seems to be ready for based on how he thrived under the pressure and spotlight this past season.
