The landlady of the Moot Hall Arms has appealed for the return of a rare Leeds United flag taken from the city-centre pub in early June.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the flag features fan favourite Stuart Dallas and is one of only five ever made, displayed on the bar's "Wall of Greats". CCTV recorded a man entering during opening hours, telling staff he wanted to check the cricket score, then unclipping the flag, concealing it in his trousers and leaving.
It was specially printed in Dallas' hometown by a local company and brought to Leeds by a regular who travels from Ireland. The piece cannot be replaced and the donor was left gutted.
The footage has been circulated by West Yorkshire Police as part of a CCTV appeal. Officers received a report of the theft at around 10pm on Wednesday three June at the Moot Hall Arms on Mill Hill. Anyone with information can contact 101 or visit https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/LiveChat quoting reference 13260312758.
While the search continues, the landlady has urged against a witch-hunt and has made clear the priority is the flag’s safe return. She highlighted the pub’s support for Leeds fans, the community and charity, and appealed for help to bring it back.
