Harry Kane has long since become the face of a successful era at FC Bayern. Following his outstanding season, the Munich club wants to extend the Englishman’s contract early. However, this plan is unlikely to come cheap.
It is no longer a secret that FC Bayern wants to continue its partnership with Harry Kane beyond 2027. After scoring 61 goals in competitive matches last season, there is no doubt at Säbener Straße that the Englishman should remain the centerpiece of the offense in the coming years.
As Sport BILD reports, there is fundamental interest on both sides in a contract extension. While concrete negotiations have not yet begun, it is already becoming clear that an agreement is likely to come at a significant cost for Bayern.
Kane is already one of the highest-paid players in the Bundesliga. According to media reports, the captain of the English national team earns around 25 million euros per year, making him the league’s top earner at present.
Nevertheless, his next contract could be significantly more lucrative. The reason is obvious: at 32, Kane is on the verge of his last major career contract. At the same time, he has likely just had the best season of his career. His negotiating position is correspondingly strong.
Added to this is the fact that top international clubs are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation. Even though Kane is very happy in Munich, interest from other clubs automatically increases his market value.

The upcoming World Cup could have an additional impact on contract negotiations.
Should Kane have a strong tournament with England and once again be among the standout players, his already strong negotiating position would be further improved.
The striker himself certainly seems highly motivated ahead of the tournament. “Playing for England is what I love doing most. I wear the jersey with great pride. Leading another team at a World Cup is a very special feeling. We’re going into the tournament with high expectations,” Kane explained in an interview with ITV.
The Bayern star also made it clear just how good he feels right now: “I’m in the best shape of my life, both physically and mentally.”
From FC Bayern’s perspective, there are strong reasons to begin talks as soon as possible.
The club’s leadership knows just how important Kane has become. Uli Hoeneß recently even called the Englishman the “best transfer in the club’s history.” Lothar Matthäus also firmly expects that the contract extension could be finalized before the start of the new season.
One thing is clear: If Kane does extend his contract, it will likely not be under the same terms as before. In fact, there are currently strong indications that the Englishman could further solidify his status as FC Bayern’s top earner.
For Munich, however, this would be an investment they would likely be happy to make, given the sporting importance of their striker.
