Lawrence Shankland would have given Rangers everything but the club preferred absolutely anyone else

This topic rankles Ibrox Noise more than possibly any other in recent years. Rangers lost out on a Scotland international and one of the SPL’s best strikers because the club refused to make a move on him. Lawrence Shankland signed a new long-term deal at Hearts which closed the door firmly on any chance of him ever pulling on the Rangers shirt. Lawreence Shankland is probably gone forever.

Shankland dream

Shankland made it clear he did not want to leave Scotland. Rangers was his dream. It was all he wanted. He wanted to play for his boyhood team, he wanted to finally win trophies at a club of size and stature, and he wanted the pay that came with it. Ibrox Noise previously admitted the verdict was simple: Shankland is gone for good. The club should have moved heaven and earth to make it happen.

But Rangers ignored him. They put forward a token bid at one point, around £1.5 million, and Hearts rejected it because the player held more value. That ended the matter. Rangers made no second bid, they showed no serious intent, and they walked away. Rangers fans erupted with fury when news of the Hearts striker’s situation emerged. The opportunity sat right there, but the club, in classic Rangers fashion, blew it.

Shankland then faced two options. He could try abroad again, as he did in Belgium with Beerschot where he failed, or he could stay in Scotland. The Scotsman confirmed the contract length and his reasoning, noting family played a key role. Being a home bird, and with Rangers refusing to act, he chose the latter. He signed his new deal at Tynecastle while Rangers scratched around with strikers who could not deliver.

3 strikers

Look at what Rangers have instead. One forward wanted away, one offered nothing, and another looked ready to leave. None of them brought guaranteed goals. Shankland would have. He would have banged them in for Rangers the way Kris Boyd once did. Instead, he scores against Rangers and for Hearts because of the negligence from our own club.

This mistake is not isolated. It is a pattern. Rangers make the wrong call every single time. It feels like a Trojan horse operates inside Ibrox, sabotaging the club from within. Fans now sit furious again because the board lacked the vision and ambition to sign a proven scorer who only ever wanted to wear our shirt.

So yes, Rangers have no Lawrence Shankland. He belongs to Hearts long term now, and that is how it stands. Another dream died, another striker slipped away, and another disaster landed at Ibrox. Lawreence Shankland is probably gone forever. Well done Rangers, again.
