Naomi Layzell has completed a season-long loan move to fellow Barclays Women’s Super League side, Everton.
The versatile defender joined City in the summer of 2024 from Bristol City and has since totalled 19 appearances for the Blues.
She made her debut in a UEFA Women’s Champions League second qualifying meeting with Paris FC in September 2024 and it was in the prestigious European competition where she made her mark after we had qualified for the group stage.
Layzell scored and registered an assist in a famous 2-0 win over Barcelona at the Joie Stadium in October of the same year, poking home the opener from a corner before playing a pinpoint pass to Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw for number two.
Unfortunately, the England youth international sustained an injury in the triumph over Barca which limited her to 14 appearances during that first term at the Joie.
After returning to fitness, she sustained an issue in December 2025 which again hampered her progress for City, as she made five appearances last term.
Thankfully, her recovery has progressed well and her switch to the Toffees will provide Layzell with vital minutes back in the WSL.
Everyone at City would like to wish Naomi the very best during her time with Everton in 2026/27.
