Lazio have announced through their official website that Gaetano Castrovilli will undergo arthroscopic surgery after suffering an injury during a training session.
The 27-year-old picked up a knee problem which prompted a swift medical test. The results revealed a lesion to the medial meniscus which will require surgical intervention in the next few days.
The SS Lazio medical staff announces that Gaetano Castrovilli has undergone clinical and instrumental tests at the Villa Mafalda Clinic. The tests have revealed a lesion to the medial meniscus of the left knee suffered during a training match at the S.S. Lazio Training Center. The footballer will undergo arthroscopic surgery in the coming days.
While the club’s official statement doesn’t mention a timetable for the player’s return to action, La Lazio Siamo Noi expects the midfielder to remain on the sidelines between one month and 45 days.
This is another blow for Castrovilli who has been enduring torrid times with injuries over the past few years. This is specifically the reason why Fiorentina released him at the end of the previous campaign. But while Lazio decided to bet on his talent, the Italian has yet to truly flourish under Marco Baroni who continues to back the player.
Nevertheless, Castrovilli’s injury shouldn’t have any effect on Lazio’s plans for the big Europa League showdown against Porto, as the midfielder has been omitted from the club’s continental list. On the other hand, he made six appearances in Serie A this season, only one as a starter.
