Lazio have categorically denied receiving any purchase offer from JPMorgan Chase, after claims of a 450 million bid for the club.

According to Il Tempo, Claudio Lotito rejected a 450 million proposal from the bank, said to have been presented by one of its top officials, Enrico Monti, who is involved in the Stadio Flaminio project. The report also urged the president to step down at the right time.

Later on Sunday, Lazio published a website statement insisting no proposal, expression of interest, preliminary approach or contact of any kind had been received regarding a potential acquisition, branding the report unfounded.

The club has endured what many consider its toughest season since Lotito took charge in 2004, with organised fan groups revolting against the president. Many supporters have boycotted home fixtures since late January, urging a sale.

Lotito, an Italian senator, has accused critics of pursuing a political agenda and has repeated his intention to retain control and eventually pass the club to his son, Enrico. Despite that stance, Italian media have carried reports of talks with various interested parties.

The club also requested an immediate correction with equivalent prominence, citing the need for fair and transparent information for shareholders, investors, supporters and the market.
