The organized Lazio fan groups are rallying the troops for what could be the biggest demonstration in the history of Italian football, as they continue to protest against unpopular club president Claudio Lotito.

The Background

The Biancocelesti supporters are accusing the Italian senator of putting his own interests above the club’s, blaming him and his administration for Lazio’s ongoing downward spiral. The organized fan groups have been refusing to attend the club’s home games since January.

They have also decided not to purchase season tickets for the upcoming and have cancelled their subscriptions to the platforms that broadcast the club’s matches. Moreover, they vowed not to vote for any members of Lotito’s ‘Forza Italia’ political party, and to boycott all businesses related to him and his family.

Lazio Fans Will March Against Claudio Lotito

For the third summer in a row, the organized Lazio fan groups will host a demonstration to protest against Lotito. On Thursday, July 2, the supporters will march from Ponte Milvio (where they have been gathering during the club’s home fixtures) to the Stadio Flaminio (the stadium that Lotito is planning to purchase and renovate to become Lazio’s home ground by 2031).

The fan groups announced the movement through a statement posted on their social media account (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) titled ‘Freedom’.

Freedom is not granted — it is earned! On Thursday, July 2 at 5:30 PM, we will stage the largest protest demonstration in the history of Italian fan bases. WE INVITE EVERYONE TO TAKE PART: All season-ticket holders who, in an extraordinary act of love, sacrificed their presence at the stadium this year despite having paid to secure their seat. Those who will buy a season ticket but still oppose this ownership, showing their dissent through their presence. Those who say they have not attended matches since this president took charge, and who can now show their dissent by being there. We invite everyone: young people, fathers, actors, journalists, singers, politicians, footballers — anyone who feels imprisoned by what is, in every respect, a “hostage-taking of the fan base” — to step forward and make their voice heard. After the hysteria of recent days, we have all seen our hearts illuminated by a glimmer of hope, without yet having anything concrete or tangible. We must not stop. We must continue to do our duty. We, the Lazio supporters, must take to the streets to keep the spotlight on this “massacre of love” that has been ongoing for 22 years. We have a moral duty to make ourselves heard, seen, and now, counted. There is no future unless we take control of our destiny again. We must understand that fighting to reclaim our freedom is the very least we owe to ourselves and to our fathers. We will march from Ponte Milvio (Consalvi Square side) to Piazzale Ankara (beneath the Stadio Flaminio), where we have decided to create a gathering space to give all Lazio supporters an evening of joy and shared values that have always united us.

Lotito Trying to Scatter Lazio Fans?

The Lazio supporters also accused Lotito of trying to create a rift between their ranks, but they ensure he will fail in his mission.

Even though this man is trying in every possible way to destroy the bond among us and between us and Lazio, we must not forget how important it is for our people to experience moments of Lazialità (the spirit and identity of being Lazio supporters). What we are temporarily leaving inside the stadium, we have a moral duty to recreate outside it — to protect the future of our young Lazio fans and to honor our veterans. Debates, artistic performances, iconic figures from the Lazio world, live music, and a DJ set to close the evening — all designed to give supporters a day not only of protest, but also of love and shared Lazio identity. We must not forget that our resentment toward this ownership can never equal our love for this shirt and this history. Wear your sky-blue shirt. Let us paint Rome with our colors. Let us show, once again, that Lazio supporters do not simply accept their fate. THE FUTURE BELONGS TO US! FORZA LAZIO! FORZA LAZIALI! The Organized Supporters’ Groups.
