Lazio have reportedly held a meeting with one of the Agents of Chelsea wantaway midfielder Cesare Casadei who has now emerged as one of the main candidates to join Marco Baroni’s squad.
Despite signing Arijon Ibrahimovic, the Biancocelesti are still seeking a new midfielder capable of playing in a deeper role. In recent weeks, Lazio had an agreement in hand with Jacopo Fazzini, but couldn’t find an accord over the formula and figures with Empoli, so the operation has now been put on ice, prompting President Claudio Lotito and Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani to look elsewhere.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, a summit between the Lazio Directors and the Agent of Casadei took place on Wednesday, as the Aquile are now making concrete steps in the attempts to lure the 21-year-old midfielder back to Italy.
This news follows previous reports that claimed Lazio have made an offer to Chelsea to sign the former Inter Milan youngster on loan with an obligation to buy. Pedulla also notes that Torino have attempted to sign the Italy U21 starlet but to no avail, while Napoli have only inquired about the player without making any further steps.
The source also reveals that the Italian capital are also monitoring Hellas Verona youngster Reda Belahyane who is considered an alternative track. The 20-year-old French Morrocan made his Serie A debut under Marco Baroni last season and has taken his game to a whole new level this term.
