Lazio director Angelo Fabiani refused to give anything away on the club’s interest in Lorenzo Insigne, insisting any potential move must fit within the squad’s limits for over-30 players.

Speaking to DAZN ahead of Milan-Lazio, with quotes via the Corriere dello Sport, Fabiani was asked directly about the former Napoli captain, who has recently been linked with a Serie A return.

The winger has been linked with a move to Lazio, with a reunion with former head coach and mentor Maurizio Sarri adding fuel to the fire.

However, Fabiani stayed coy and kept his cards close to his chest.

“Insigne? As an old mentor of mine used to say: I wouldn’t reveal it even under torture, I wouldn’t even tell my own son who I have in mind,” he said, shutting down the prospect of naming specific targets.

Fabiani stressed that Insigne “must be evaluated within the logic of the over quota,” noting that Lazio need to weigh their options carefully before committing to any deal.

“We need to make assessments,” he added. “We’ll see what room for manoeuvre there is for over players during the transfer window.”

The message was clear: Lazio are watching the market, but without guarantees.
