Lazio are weighing a summer move for Valencia centre-back Eray Comert, whose deal expires at the end of the season, according to Calciomercato.it.
The Biancocelesti are braced for a defensive reset. Alessio Romagnoli and Mario Gila are tied to June 2027 but are far from renewals, with Romagnoli still keen to finalise a move to Al-Sadd after a failed January. Gila has several admirers, notably AC Milan with sporting director Igli Tare involved, while Samuel Gigot is expected to leave after an injury-ravaged campaign.
Beyond next summer, only Oliver Provstgaard and Patric look likely to remain at Formello. Sporting director Angelo Fabiani is therefore expected to bring in at least two centre-backs.
Comert, a Swiss defender of Turkish origins, came through Basel’s academy and joined Valencia in January 2022. He has had loans at Nantes and Real Valladolid.
He began this campaign as back-up for Los Che, then has started regularly since January. He has 11 LaLiga appearances and two goals, and his contract expires at the end of the season.
Lazio have been busy in the free-agent market. They have secured Villarreal left-back Alfonso Pedraza and are monitoring Union Berlin centre-back Diogo Leite, who is currently injured. Comert is right-footed, a potential Gila replacement, while left-footed Leite could cover Romagnoli.
