A knack for scoring late goals is a priceless weapon. The final 15 minutes of a match can expose tired legs, wavering focus, and open spaces — and the teams that can muster up chances (and take them!) as the clock ticks down often reap big rewards. And, across England’s top four divisions this season, no one does it better than Huddersfield Town.
The League One side have scored eight goals between the 76th minute and full time so far this season — more than any other club in the 92. It’s a pattern that speaks of resilience and belief, and it’s been on display again and again this season.
Although they slumped to a 2–1 defeat to Stockport County in their last outing, the Terriers' 'Never Say Die' attitude was again on display. Trailing by two, Town refused to fade, pulling one back through substitute Bojan Radulovic deep into stoppage time. It wasn’t enough for points, but it showed the kind of fight that is becoming their trademark this season.
Overall, Huddersfield’s 2025/26 campaign has been encouraging. Sitting sixth in League One, they’ve built a platform for a promotion push — their late goals often proving decisive. Those strikes have already turned narrow games their way and could make the difference when points are totted up at the end of the season.
Sometimes the most dangerous teams are the ones that never know when they're beaten, and Huddersfield are not alone in this regard this season.
In League Two, both Chesterfield and Gillingham have developed a handy habit of scoring late, while Premier League champions Liverpool have enjoyed some grandstand finishes this season (although they lost to a late strike against Chelsea last time out!).
