Leeds United have verbally agreed a deal to sell centre-back Pascal Struijk to Brighton, as they close in on their first signing of the summer, Harry Wilson.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Brighton have an agreement in principle to sign the 26-year-old this summer. The fee is undisclosed, though it is understood to be about £20m.
Struijk’s contract at Elland Road expires next year. It is believed he was offered new terms but wanted a new challenge, and Leeds risked losing him on a free next summer.
He has made 196 appearances for Leeds since joining from Ajax in January 2018, initially with the under-21s. Brighton sold Jan Paul Van Hecke to Tottenham for £52m earlier this month and Adam Webster is leaving. Brighton, who signed Georginio Rutter from Leeds in August 2024, will play in the Europa Conference League after finishing 8th.
Leeds are preparing for their second season back in the Premier League. They reached agreement last week to sign Wilson as a free agent after his Fulham contract expired, and the move remains on track pending medical and paperwork.
The Whites are also in the hunt for Germany international Julian Brandt, who is a free agent as his Borussia Dortmund deal expires, and they remain in negotiations for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles.
