Leeds United face fresh competition for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, with Crystal Palace and Fulham now interested, according to Sky Sports. The outlet adds that neither club has made contact with Southampton.

Leeds have lodged two bids for the 22-year-old, the second believed to be worth £23m plus add-ons, with discussions continuing. News of that improved offer emerged more than a week ago and the club have declined to give a running commentary.

Palace were linked amid uncertainty over Daichi Kamada after his contract expired at the end of last season. The Japan international has since signed a new one-year deal.

TalkSPORT reports growing rival interest and says Southampton value Charles at £30m, describing him as a top priority for Leeds. Last month, the midfielder said he was focused on Southampton and looking forward to pre-season.

Charles has one year left on his deal, with Southampton holding a further one-year option. Their failure to go up from the Championship has left key players vulnerable to interest.

He made 38 appearances last season, scoring six and assisting two, and has 35 Northern Ireland caps, having also captained his country.
