Leeds United could pursue legal action against Leicester City over alleged financial rule breaches in 2023/24, the season Leicester won the Championship and Leeds narrowly missed automatic promotion.

According to Leeds Live, the move is being explored after a landmark ruling awarded Burnley nearly £40 million from Everton for similar violations, while Leeds are also looking at action relating to 2022/23 when both clubs were relegated.

Four Leeds players at the World Cup, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Noah Okafor, Ao Tanaka and Brenden Aaronson, might miss the pre-season tour of the United States if their countries reach the latter stages.

FIFA requires a minimum of 21 days of uninterrupted rest after a season, and with the first friendly against Wrexham on July 25, deep runs could clash with that mandated break.

Any disruption should be limited, since a maximum of only four players may be absent, and they can build fitness in later European friendlies before the Premier League begins on August 22.

Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe will help Rangers search for a new manager after Danny Rohl’s move to RB Salzburg. This will be the third permanent boss hired by the 49ers since they acquired the Scottish club as part of a consortium last year.

Marathe stepped down as Rangers vice-chairman in February to comply with UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules, though he recently confirmed he remains highly active and passionate about boardroom decisions at Ibrox.

That turnover contrasts with stability at Leeds, where Daniel Farke has been in charge for three years and is likely to be offered a new contract by the 49ers.
