Leeds United’s relegation picture has tightened, with bookmakers’ predicted final table showing a major Crystal Palace drop and Tottenham sliding after weekend results narrowed the cushion above the bottom three.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds began the weekend eight points clear but their advantage was trimmed to five on Saturday, and pressure increased again on Sunday as rivals closed in.
On Saturday lunchtime, third-bottom West Ham won 3-1 to cut the gap, then Tottenham’s 2-2 draw at second-bottom Burnley kept the race congested.
Sunday’s early game saw Forest win 2-0 to sit behind Leeds only on goal difference, albeit having played a game more. Later, Palace’s poor run continued with a home defeat to Chelsea, and Adam Wharton was dismissed for a second booking.
Palace and Spurs are now only three points ahead of Leeds, also having played a game more, prompting a reshaped relegation market and a fresh predicted table.
At the top end of that projection, Arsenal are first ahead of Manchester City and Aston Villa, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool completing the top six.
Leeds visit Everton on Monday night seeking to restore breathing space above the drop zone.
