Leeds United will honour club great Mick Jones at half-time when Brentford visit Elland Road on Saturday night.
The club said in a statement that Jones will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award and become the first former player to be given a Leeds United Heritage Cap. The on-pitch presentation is planned for the interval of the Premier League match, with his family present.
A key figure under Don Revie, Jones struck the winner in the 1968 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup final, delivering the club’s first major European honour.
He helped Leeds claim league titles in 1968/69 and 1973/74, finishing as top scorer in both seasons. Further honours followed with the Charity Shield in 1969, the Fairs Cup again in 1971, and the FA Cup in 1972 when he set up Allan Clarke’s decider.
Jones made 312 appearances and scored 111 goals for Leeds between 1967 and 1975, and won three England caps.
The presentation forms part of Marching on Forever, the former players association established in late 2025 to celebrate club history, under which ex-players will be recognised and issued Heritage Caps. Supporters have been asked to remain seated during the interval to show their appreciation.
