In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Leeds United are set to rekindle their interest in AC Milan forward Santiago Gimenez. It is understood that the Whites would have to compete with Sunderland in the race to land the Mexican talent next summer.

Gimenez’s Recent Form In Italian Football

Gimenez has caught the eye at times with his performances as the focal point of AC Milan’s attack this season. The Mexican striker has banged in one goal and grabbed two assists in 11 matches for the Italian club in this campaign so far across various competitions.

The 24-year-old has missed a lot of games this season due to injury. Thus, he would be a risky option for the Whites to consider at the end of this campaign.

His current contract at San Siro will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Leeds United to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Leeds United Boss Daniel Farke Move In For Gimenez?

Gimenez is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. Standing at 1.83, Gimenez can use his strong frame to win a few aerial duels for his side.

The Mexican sensation can contribute by scoring and creating a few important goals for his side. However, the jury is still out on whether he can stay injury-free and make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Whites manage to get him on board this summer.

Gimenez would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Leeds United boss Daniel Farke’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the West Yorkshire club in the coming years.

At 24, Gimenez has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Whites to consider in this transfer window. He will also help Leeds compete across all fronts in the future. With all things considered, Farke would be wise to move in for him later this year.
