Leeds United’s survival bid has received a significant lift, with bookmakers’ relegation odds and predicted final table shifting, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.
Leeds won 3-1 at home to Burnley on Friday night, moving nine points clear of third-bottom Tottenham, seven ahead of West Ham and four ahead of Nottingham Forest. They played first as the relegation rivals approached their final four matches.
West Ham were next up on Saturday at Brentford and, despite only one defeat in their previous six league games, lost 3-0. The result lifted Brentford into sixth and left the Irons in danger of dropping into the relegation zone.
Leeds and West Ham now have three games remaining, with the Irons hosting title-chasing Arsenal next. Spurs sit two points behind West Ham and can move out of the bottom three, and above them, with a win in their game in hand at Aston Villa on Sunday night. Forest visit Chelsea on Bank Holiday Monday.
West Ham’s setback further aided Leeds, as well as Spurs and Forest, and has prompted notable changes to relegation pricing and the bookmakers’ predicted table. The title betting has shifted too, with Arsenal now 4-6 favourites and Manchester City at 6-4.
