Leeds United’s hopes of finally landing Harry Wilson have been lifted by a claim that his Fulham contract talks are on hold. According to the BBC, the Wales winger, whom Leeds thought they had signed last summer, wants clarity on Marco Silva’s future before committing.
Both Wilson and Silva are out of contract at the end of this season. If the 28-year-old does depart, he could leave on a free transfer, which would widen his options.
Silva has previously said there is zero chance of Wilson leaving in this window and stressed he wants him to stay for the long term. He indicated the club should seek a new deal and described Wilson as a key player.
Whether an extension follows remains uncertain. Interest is growing in Wilson, who has 17 goal involvements for club and country this season, with Everton, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Brentford and Crystal Palace among those credited with an interest.
For now, Leeds have added Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton to compete with Brenden Aaronson for the playmaker role.
