Leeds United suffered a pre-season setback as Gabriel Gudmundsson was forced off in the first half against Liverpool at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday night.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the left wing-back came off worse from an early collision with Florian Wirtz, received treatment, then returned before going down again as Liverpool prepared a free-kick.

He appeared to be holding the small of his back or hamstring as physios came on, and he was replaced by Sebastiaan Bornauw.

Leeds trailed 1-0 through Luke Chambers at the time, and Florian Wirtz struck soon after Gudmundsson’s withdrawal.

The defender had been making his second appearance of the summer. He now has the best part of a week to be assessed before Leeds face RB Leipzig on Saturday August eight.
