Leeds United have identified Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as a top summer transfer target, according to Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Leeds manager Daniel Farke wants a quality addition in the position and the Whites are keen on bringing the Japan international to the Elland Road club.
Suzuki is said to be the ‘most concrete option for Leeds’ and the ‘hottest name on the table’ for the West Yorkshire club right now.
The Whites have released Illan Meslier while Karl Darlow has yet to sign a contract extension.
The 35-year-old could remain with Leeds beyond this summer after dislodging Lucas Perri to make 22 Premier League appearances last term.
Farke needs a quality long-term replacement and Suzuki is perfect for the Whites.
The 23-year-old Serie A star impressed at the World Cup and dreams of playing in the Premier League.
He once rejected a move to Manchester United as he did not believe he was ready for the challenge.
Suzuki boasts unbelievable reflexes, is solid in one-on-one situations and can launch long throws for counterattacks.
He is known for throwing balls 20 metres over the halfway line and he is also comfortable on the ball.
The Japanese could prove to be an upgrade on Darlow but signing him will largely depend on what happens with the future of the Welshman at Leeds.
Suzuki is brilliant at making low saves as he is quick to get down, and he is also perfect when it comes to catching crosses, ranking second in Europe’s major leagues for most crosses caught in 2024-25.
He caught 55 crosses for Parma that season, 21 more than his nearest rival in Serie A, with only Barcelona’s Joan Garcia making more with 60.
The Leeds target proved himself at the World Cup last month with some eye-catching performances and a big move could be on the cards this summer, with Aston Villa also keeping tabs on him.
