Leeds United are exploring a move to sign Chelsea striker Liam Delap, as Daniel Farke looks to bolster his attacking options, according to iNews.

The ‘selfless’ 23-year-old is expected to leave Stamford Bridge after a hugely frustrating debut campaign in west London.

After completing a big-money move to Chelsea from Ipswich Town following an impressive 12-goal Premier League season, Delap found himself starved of minutes and opportunities.

Across 28 Premier League appearances last season – the majority from the substitutes’ bench – Delap managed just one goal.

With competition for places fierce in Chelsea’s overcrowded attack, the club are ready to sanction a sale this summer.

Delap’s representatives have engaged several top-flight clubs in search of a clean break and guaranteed first-team minutes.

Leeds United have now positioned themselves in the running, adding Delap to an ambitious summer recruitment drive that has already featured significant spending across multiple positions.

Leeds already boast an established frontline target man in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who hit a rich vein of goalscoring form at Elland Road. Delap would provide valuable back-up, possessing a similarly direct and physical profile.

Delap is currently with Chelsea in Australia for their pre-season tour and started Tuesday’s 6-4 triumph over the Western Sydney Wanderers, where first-choice striker Joao Pedro came off the bench to score three goals and provide an assist.

With Chelsea on the verge of signing Danny Welbeck on a two-year deal, Delap’s chances of securing regular game time have been further plundered. In addition to Leeds, Everton are also keen on a move for the striker.
