Graeme Bailey believes that Leeds will have money to spend in January, despite sailing close to the wind in terms of PSR.

Reporter Graeme Bailey has revealed that Leeds United will have the "financial muscle" to make moves during the January transfer window.

He revealed this information to Leeds United News, revealing that Daniel Farke will have money to spend in the transfer market, as he looks to guide the Whites to the Premier League at the second time of asking.

Leeds saw plenty of movement at Elland Road during the summer window, with some key players departing, but also seeing some very shrewd additions making the switch to West Yorkshire.

Following the departures of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and others, these additions and the returns of Brenden Aaronson and Max Wober from their loan spells have helped to mitigate the effects of key exits.

On paper, they have a very strong squad in terms of the quality they have, and it wouldn't be a surprise if they are able to secure promotion at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

However, depth in some areas may become an issue, especially with Leeds suffering with a couple of major injury worries at this point.

Graeme Bailey on Leeds United's January transfer window business

In a recent meeting with the club's Supporter Advisory Board, Leeds CEO Angus Kinnear revealed that the club were close to their PSR limits.

However, Bailey still believes that there will be money for the Whites to spend in January.

He told Leeds United News: "Leeds have got the financial muscle to do something in January, the money to make moves. I think they will.

"They might have to prioritise attack and midfield over the defence but it wouldn’t surprise me if they go into January wanting at least three, maybe four.

"Will they get them? January is not always the easiest, but Leeds will have the finances in place to do some deals, especially loans."

Leeds United may need some January additions

There are a few areas that may need looking at in January.

Despite Illan Meslier's error against Sunderland, the goalkeeping department may not need looking at, considering they already have some decent options there.

The full-back area may also have a sufficient number of options when all of their options are fit, and they also addressed their wing area during the summer.

Many of their wingers, including Tottenham Hotspur loanee Manor Solomon, could make a real difference between now and the end of the season.

And if Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph can stay fit for much of the season, the striker area may not need looking at either.

The centre-back department seems light on options in the absence of Ethan Ampadu though - and the central midfield area is at risk of being in crisis - with both Ampadu and Ilia Gruev out of action at this point.
