According to Leeds Live, Leeds United’s home meeting with Brentford, currently set for 8pm on Saturday 21 March, could be rescheduled if Liverpool’s Champions League or EFL Cup commitments require the late television slot.

Neither Leeds nor Brentford are driving the potential change. Liverpool are due to face Brighton at 12.30pm that day, and if they are away in the Champions League in the preceding midweek, their match would take the 8pm kick-off instead.

The Premier League lists Leeds v Brentford as potentially moving to 12.30pm or 5.30pm, with confirmation due by 2 March, dependent on other clubs’ EFL Cup final and Champions League involvement.

An early switch would not trouble Leeds unduly, but it would be a major headache for Brentford supporters, who already face a journey of more than 200 miles from west London to Yorkshire.

Leeds are fresh from a 1-0 win over Fulham, which followed a 4-3 defeat at Newcastle, and every point remains vital in their survival fight. Daniel Farke called it their best win so far against an in-form Fulham, saying his side deserved it, kept creating, finally earned a first home clean sheet since August and coped with injuries to Bijol and Stach.

There are nine matches before Brentford visit. Next Monday brings a trip to Everton, then a home fixture against the Premier League leaders the following Saturday.
