Leeds United visit Derby County in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, with Daniel Farke expected to make changes. They lost their first league game in eight at Newcastle United on Wednesday, and this looks a chance to regain momentum against mid-table Championship opposition.
As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, rotation is likely where possible in a hectic winter, although injuries and limited depth mean a complete overhaul is unlikely. The report predicts as many as eight changes at Pride Park.
The predicted XI has Karl Darlow replacing Lucas Perri in goal. With Perri criticised by Farke after recent errors, a strong display might bolster Darlow’s case.
James Justin is listed at right-back, with starting a fit Jayden Bogle seen as a risk. It would be a third start in eight days, but cover is thin and rotation is thought to be needed elsewhere.
Sebastiaan Bornauw, who impressed while Joe Rodon was out and came on late at Newcastle, is tipped to start. Pascal Struijk partners him, with Rodon only just back and Jaka Bijol still adapting to the schedule. Struijk is also a candidate for the armband.
Sam Byram is pencilled in at left-back to rest Gabriel Gudmundsson, the only Leeds player to feature in every Premier League game this season and the squad’s leading minutes holder. Byram has not played since the end of August.
