Leeds United striker Harry Gray says Sheffield Wednesday’s season-ticket numbers helped sway his decision to join on loan.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 17-year-old will spend 2026/27 in League One with Wednesday after a stint at Rotherham United from January to May. The Owls are targeting an immediate return to the Championship.
A change of ownership brought a party atmosphere at Hillsborough at the end of last season, and Gray cited the club’s backing as a key factor. He called the 24,000 season-ticket figure crazy and said the timing feels right with a full pre-season to settle. He described Hillsborough as special once the crowd are in full voice and said this year should be unbelievable and, he hopes, a season to remember.
Sporting director Simon Wilson believes Gray showed enough at Rotherham to make a difference in League One. He pointed to an elite youth record and said the forward translated those qualities to senior football, delivering attacking impact in difficult circumstances.
Rotherham struggled for creativity last season, limiting service to a young striker. With Wednesday expecting to push for promotion, Wilson said their playing identity demands chances and they expect Gray to be a big threat. He thanked Leeds for trusting Wednesday with the next phase of the player’s development and said they look forward to integrating him.
