Leeds United’s World Cup-bound contingent experienced a mixed Sunday across international friendlies.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, four Leeds players are set for this summer’s tournament, with three of their nations in action on Sunday.
Ao Tanaka started for Japan and played 78 minutes in a 1-0 friendly win over Iceland.
Noah Okafor, named in Switzerland’s squad, missed the 4-1 victory against Jordan at St Gallen’s Kybunpark due to a calf issue. As of Saturday evening he was still struggling with the problem, and coach Murat Yakin was not concerned about his long-term availability.
Brenden Aaronson returned to the USA camp on Saturday after getting married on Friday. He was on the bench but unused as the USA beat Senegal 3-2 at the Bank Of America Stadium.
Left back Gabi Gudmundsson completes the quartet with Sweden, who face hosts Norway on Monday in a 6pm kick-off.
