The 28-year-old has enjoyed a productive campaign for the German side, scoring four goals and registering seven assists in 17 Bundesliga games, with injuries restricting the number of appearances he has made.

That includes an impressive recent run, with Honorat registering at least one goal contribution in his past four outings.

Such form appears to have caught the eye, as Foot Mercato have revealed that Leeds are among a host of clubs keeping tabs on the player.

The report explains that the Whites are looking to strengthen their attack, but they are not the only club monitoring Honorat, as Nice and Freiburg are in the mix for his signature when the summer window opens.

A move to the latter may appeal as they are currently sitting fourth in the Bundesliga, which would bring Champions League football.

It’s unclear what sort of fee would be required to sign Honorat, but he is under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach until the summer of 2028, so they will be in a position to demand a decent return on a player they brought in for around €8m.

Leeds United must get summer recruitment right on Premier League return

Obviously, you don’t know exactly how any signing will work out, but Honorat is the sort of signing that should excite Leeds fans.

He has a good pedigree, having played in the top-flight in France and Germany over the years, and is now in his peak years.

Honorat’s current campaign has been frustrating on the injury front, which is unusual for him, but his record when he has played is very good.

He would give boss Daniel Farke an additional attacking option, and whilst he could feature in a few positions in the final third, even if his best position is down the right flank.

There are other areas that Leeds need to prioritise, including a natural number nine, but they must add more goals to their squad, and Honorat is someone who offers that threat.

The gap between the Premier League and the Championship has been highlighted in the past two years, so Leeds are aware of the task awaiting them, but it seems Farke will be backed with serious funds to build a group that is capable of surviving next season.
