Leeds United are interested in signing Royal Union Saint-Gilloise goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen, according to Sky Sports journalist Ben Heckner.

Manager Daniel Farke wants a goalie after Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow left the club.

The 6ft 9in shot-stopper is also on Ipswich Town’s radar, and a return to the Premier League could be on the cards.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper helped his club win the Belgian Cup last term, and Leeds have been impressed by his performances.

Union SG are already preparing for life without the Dutchman this summer, with Arminia Bielefeld goalie Jonas Kersken targeted as his potential replacement.

Scherpen brings plenty of experience to the table.

The former Ajax man spent most of his time with the Seagulls out on loan, winning two Austrian Bundesliga titles and one Austrian Cup with Sturm Graz in the process.

He will fancy his chances of impressing in the Premier League if the opportunity arises.

Leeds need a quality replacement for Darlow and Meslier, and Scherpen fits the bill after proving himself in Europe.
