Leeds United visit West Ham on Sunday for the Premier League finale with central midfield depleted, and Daniel Farke is weighing an Under-21 option to address the problem area.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Ilia Gruev's meniscus injury ended his campaign, Anton Stach then suffered a deep ankle cut requiring stitches during the win over Brighton, and Sean Longstaff has since had minor hernia surgery. None of the three will be available this weekend, while Noah Okafor and Gabi Gudmundsson are also sidelined.
Farke's immediate options include captain Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka and Brenden Aaronson. Others have operated deeper when required, with Joel Piroe among those who have filled in.
Nineteen-year-old Rhys Chadwick has been around the first-team group and was an unused substitute against Brighton, though he is yet to make a league debut. Farke suggested young players could travel and said the squad contains adaptable cover.
Eighteen-year-old Alfie Cresswell, younger brother of former Leeds defender Charlie, was also an unused substitute last Sunday. For the Under-21s this season he has featured in defensive and central midfield. Farke said the situation is tricky.
