According to The Irish Independent, Leeds United will return to Dublin this summer to face Manchester United at Croke Park on Wednesday 12 August. That is their second successive pre-season trip to the Irish capital.
Daniel Farke’s side drew 1-1 with AC Milan at the Aviva Stadium last year, in front of tens of thousands of Leeds fans. Supporters travelled from across Ireland, with many also flying in from the UK and Europe.
Croke Park has not staged a football match since 2009 and is the home of Gaelic football, also known as GAA. Both clubs have sizeable Irish followings, and the venue holds 82,300.
The Dublin fixture is set to follow Leeds’ pre-season tour of the USA in late July and early August. Farke’s squad will be based on the East Coast, with games planned against Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool.
Leeds face Wrexham at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Saturday 25 July, then Sunderland at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey on Thursday 30 July. They finish in Chicago against Liverpool on Sunday two August.
Tickets for all three US matches are on sale. Leeds have yet to announce the Dublin friendly, and will likely provide ticket details alongside any confirmation.
