Leeds have turned back to league business after edging Birmingham City on penalties in the FA Cup, and a goalkeeping search has seen James Trafford linked. TEAMtalk reports that Manchester City are considering loaning the 23-year-old next season, with Leeds said to be among the clubs keeping tabs.
Daniel Farke’s side have lost only two of their last 13 league matches, taking 19 points in that run after 11 from their first 13. They sit 15th, six points above West Ham in 18th. Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney has also been mentioned.
Goalkeeper has been a problem area. Lucas Perri missed games with an arm injury and, like Karl Darlow, has not fully convinced, while Illan Meslier is out of favour. More links in that position are likely before the summer.
Perri returned to the XI at St Andrew’s, making four saves across normal and extra time before denying Tommy Doyle in the shootout as Leeds won 4-2 to reach round five. “I thought he (Perri) was excellent today. That is a good save from Tommy Doyle’s penalty,” said Paul Robinson on TNT Sports.
Joel Piroe has 208 Premier League minutes this season and 14 outings in all competitions without a goal or assist after the arrivals of Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. “Piroe isn't that type of player, so you can see why, unfortunately, he will not start many games because of the way that we play,” Tony Dorigo told the Yorkshire Post. “He'll review it again in the summer.”
